FALLA DE EXTUBACIÓN EN LA TERAPIA INTENSIVA DE UN HOSPITAL UNIVERSITARIO. UN ESTUDIO RESTROSPECTIVO

Abstract
Objetivo: conocer la tasa de falla de extubación y analizar las características de estos pacientes en la UTI de un hospital universitario.
Diseño y método: se incluyeron pacientes mayores de 18 años que ingresaron a la UTI y recibieron ventilación mecánica invasiva (VMI), durante periodo entre el 1 de Junio de 2013 al 31 de Mayo de 2014, que fueron extubados.
Resultados: se analizaron 139 pacientes. La mediana de edad fue de 69 años. La tasa de falla de extubación fue de 14,4%. La presencia de neumonía asociada a la ventilación mecánica (NAVM) fue mayor en el grupo de falla, al igual que los días de VMI, la estadía en UTI, la mortalidad en UTI y hospitalaria.
