Brugada-Like pattern secondary to intoxication by tricyclic antidepressants; an unusual presentation.
Main Article Content
Abstract
Brugada Syndrome is a channelopathy that caused its carrier an increased risk of ventricular arrhythmias and sudden death. The usual treatment is the implantation of an automatic defibrillator in case of having suffered an arrhythmic event or presenting a family history of sudden death. In some situations it is possible to see a Brugada pattern on the electrocardiogram without the patient suffering from this condition. One of these situations is poisoning with antidepressants or neuroleptics. In this way, it is possible to observe electrocardiograms suggestive of Brugada in these patients without their having an increased risk of arrhythmias. Knowing this phenomenon is of great importance since it prevents physicians from taking unnecessary therapeutic attitudes and poses a greater risk to patients.
